Dual Enrollment (High School) Student

• Be enrolled as a student in a Florida public or nonpublic secondary school (grades 6-12), or in a home education program;
• Have a 3.0 unweighted high school grade point average (GPA) to enroll in college credit courses, or a 2.0 high school unweighted GPA to enroll in career dual enrollment courses;
• For college credit courses, achieve a minimum score on common placement tests pursuant to Rule 6A-14.064, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.);
• Meet any additional eligibility criteria specified by the postsecondary institution in the Dual Enrollment Articulation Agreement; and • Cannot be scheduled to graduate prior to the completion of the dual enrollment course.
• Who is eligible for dual enrollment courses? Students must meet the following eligibility criteria:
  • All students in grades 6-12 who meet these eligibility requirements or additional eligibility requirements as determined in the articulation agreement must be allowed to participate in dual enrollment. Any additional eligibility requirements or limits on dual enrollment participation based on grade levels must be only to ensure college readiness and not to arbitrarily prohibit students who have demonstrated the ability to master advanced courses from participation. Students must maintain a 3.0 unweighted high school GPA and the minimum required postsecondary GPA specified in the Dual Enrollment Articulation Agreement for continued enrollment in college credit dual enrollment courses
• Make an appointment to meet with your guidance counselor to determine your eligibility (3.0 high school GPA and college-level placement test scores in reading, English and math).
• Attend Dual Enrollment meeting if required by your high school.
• Take the PERT placement test at your high school. ACT or SAT scores may also be used to meet placement requirements.

Once you are approved by your high school to take FGC classes, complete the FGC Application for Dual Enrollment / Early College and submit it on or before the semester admission deadline.

Complete your FGC course registration selections, which must be approved by your guidance counselor then register for classes during the open registration period.

Submit the following to the Dual Enrollment office for review:

• Completed DE Application (found on DE webpage)
• Eligible Test Scores

Receive your letter of acceptance that will include important information like log-in information for MyFGC portal, as well as instructions to view the DE New Student Orientation found on our DE webpage under New Dual Enrollment Students along with how to run a degree evaluation, check schedule planner and transfer information.

Call the DE office at 386-754-4300 with your Student ID# (stated in the letter of acceptance) to register for the homeschool articulation agreement meeting.
